Latest Trends in Agricultural Trade Between Morocco and the EU

According to the latest report from the European Commission released on Monday, September 28, 2026, the importation of agricultural products from Morocco by the European Union (EU) has reached €2.66 billion during the first seven months of 2026, reflecting a slight increase of 1% compared to the previous year. Morocco ranks as the 13th largest supplier to the EU, holding a modest 2% market share. This growth in exports follows a robust performance in 2025. Conversely, agricultural exports from the EU to Morocco have seen a significant decline of 10% since the start of the year, highlighting a shift in trade dynamics.

During the first seven months of 2026, the EU imported €2.66 billion worth of Moroccan agricultural products, up from €2.62 billion during the same period in 2025, marking a rise of €39 million (1%). This data is part of the European Commission's ongoing monitoring of agricultural trade trends, which aims to provide insights into the evolving economic landscape. In 2025, imports from Morocco totaled €3.75 billion, compared to €3.46 billion in 2024, demonstrating an annual growth rate of 8.5%. Morocco's position as the 12th largest agricultural supplier to the EU underscores its importance in the European market, although it still lags behind major players like Brazil, the UK, and the United States.

Export Decline from the EU

In stark contrast, agricultural exports from the EU to Morocco have contracted significantly in 2026. Between January and July, the EU exported €1.99 billion to Morocco, down from €2.21 billion during the same period in 2025, representing a decrease of €223 million (10%). For the entire year of 2025, exports to Morocco amounted to €3.79 billion, which was an increase from €3.63 billion in 2024, demonstrating a 4% growth. Morocco accounts for 2% of total EU agricultural exports, while the UK remains the largest importer, absorbing 23% of the total, followed by the United States and Switzerland.

Overall, the total volume of EU agricultural exports reached €138.7 billion from January to July 2026, reflecting a 1% decrease year-on-year. The total annual exports had previously reached €239 billion in 2025, indicating a complex and evolving trade relationship between Morocco and the EU.
