Significant Drug Seizure and Arrest in Oran

The Regional Service for Combating Organized Crime (SRLCO) in Oran has successfully intercepted over 67 kilograms of processed cannabis originating from Morocco, along with the retrieval of a firearm. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in the battle against the illicit drug trade.

According to a statement released by the General Directorate of National Security, the seizure occurred as part of a larger initiative aimed at curtailing illegal drug trafficking. Investigators from the SRLCO conducted thorough field research leading to the disruption of a significant attempt to transport the drug shipment concealed within a tourist vehicle in one of the western provinces of the country. In addition to the cannabis, authorities arrested a member of an organized transnational criminal network and confiscated a 9mm pistol along with live ammunition.

The operation also led to the recovery of three additional tourist vehicles that were employed in criminal activities, alongside a substantial sum of cash estimated at half a billion Algerian dinars derived from the illegal trade. The arrested suspect has been presented to the public prosecutor at the Saniyah Court in the Wilaya of Oran. This incident reflects the relentless commitment of Algerian law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and ensure the safety of the community.
