Exciting News for Comedy Fans
In a thrilling announcement made on March 24, 2026, during the show _Quotidien_ on TMC, renowned comedian Malik Bentalha revealed that the Marrakech du Rire festival is making a comeback, albeit under a new name: the Marrakech Comedy Festival. This highly anticipated event, which has not taken place in four years, will be distinctively different as it will not feature the festival's founder, Jamel Debbouze. Bentalha expressed his excitement, stating, "It's a big event," and emphasized that this festival aims to spotlight emerging comedic talents from various backgrounds.
Festival Details and Lineup
The Marrakech Comedy Festival is set to occur in June 2026 in Morocco and will be available for streaming on Disney+ in the autumn of the same year. Bentalha, who is both presenting and co-producing the festival alongside Karim Debbouze, Jamel's brother, promised attendees a fantastic experience filled with surprises. He hinted at a lineup that will include not just comedians but also renowned guests from other entertainment sectors, including champions, rappers, and actors. During his appearance, Bentalha also introduced three confirmed comedians who will grace the stage: Paul de Saint Sernin, known for his sharp wit on the show _Quelle époque!_, alongside Nordine Ganso from the series _Master Crimes_, and Meryem Benoua, who gained fame with her memorable quote, "I didn't come here to suffer, okay?" from the show _C'est mon choix_ in 2017.
Reflecting on the festival's legacy, the Marrakech du Rire was originally launched by Jamel Debbouze in 2011 and enjoyed a successful run until its last edition a decade later. Bentalha himself has participated several times, contributing to the festival's vibrant atmosphere. With the new Marrakech Comedy Festival, he hopes to continue that legacy while fostering new comedic talent and providing a platform for diverse voices in comedy.
