Marocco's Automotive Boom: A Hub for European Exports

The Rise of Automotive Production in Northern Morocco

In the northern region of Morocco, a remarkable transformation is taking place in the automotive industry, particularly evident in the bustling production facility near Tangier. Here, completed vehicles, predominantly featuring the Sandero model, roll off the assembly line at a rapid pace, with one vehicle being produced every minute. This automotive facility has become a crucial element of Morocco's industrial strategy, showcasing the nation's growth and capabilities in the manufacturing sector.

Investment and Workforce Dynamics

The French automotive industry has significantly invested in Morocco, leveraging its historical ties to establish a robust automotive ecosystem. Over the past decade, with the support of the Moroccan monarchy, an efficient network has been developed, encompassing production, supply chain, and logistics. Currently, about 6,000 workers are employed at this facility, operating around the clock in three shifts to meet the high demand for vehicles. In the past year alone, this factory produced an impressive 300,000 vehicles, with four out of five units earmarked for export. The primary markets for these exports include major European nations such as Germany, Italy, and France, underlining Morocco's strategic role as a significant player in the automotive supply chain.
