Marrakech Enhances Its Tourist Appeal with Over 6 Million Overnight Stays
Marrakech has solidified its status as a premier tourist destination, recording an impressive total of 6.05 million overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation by the end of May 2026. This figure represents a notable increase of 10% compared to the same period in 2025. According to recent data from the observatory, Marrakech accounted for a remarkable 33% of all overnight stays registered nationally during the first five months of the current year. The occupancy rate of classified accommodation facilities in the city reached 72% by the end of May, maintaining the same level recorded during the same timeframe last year.
In May alone, classified tourist establishments in Marrakech reported over 1.3 million overnight stays, marking a growth of 9% compared to May 2025, with an occupancy rate of 78% observed during the same month. On a national scale, classified tourist accommodations recorded a total of 18.1 million overnight stays by the end of May 2026, reflecting a 9% rise from the previous year. The overall national occupancy rate stood at 56%, increasing by one percentage point year-on-year.
