The Marrakech City Council is set to hold its regular sessions for October 2026, scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, and Wednesday, October 21. These important meetings will take place in the grand assembly hall of the City Council annex located on Mohammed VI Street. The agenda for these sessions is extensive, comprising 26 items that address various issues related to local governance and community management.
Among the critical topics to be discussed is the informational report presented by the council president, which outlines the actions taken within her authorized powers. Additionally, the council will review ongoing legal cases against the municipality, reflecting the challenges faced in local governance.
Another significant aspect of the agenda is the discussion and approval of several partnership agreements, which include initiatives related to the management and activation of the social support center at the gates of Marrakech, as well as the opening center in the same area. Further agreements will cover infrastructure development, sports, and international cooperation.
The council will also address the management of vehicle parking facilities based on the results from a feasibility study. Moreover, they will revisit and vote on a partnership agreement concerning the renewal of the sustainable urban mobility plan for the greater Marrakech area.
The first session's agenda will also include the approval of a partnership agreement to join the national portal for the right to access information. Furthermore, there will be a proposal to include the Bouakkaz wall "Arc" in the list of tangible and intangible heritage of Marrakech, alongside the naming of certain collective sports facilities owned by the municipality.
In the second session on October 21, the council will tackle issues associated with the development program for the old city, public lighting improvements, and infrastructure enhancement initiatives. This session will also cover matters related to compensation for the planning of public road boundaries, land acquisition for public facilities, and the establishment of a sports academy for football in the Al Mahamid area. Additionally, agreements to support sports equipment and a review of the budget for managing sports associations affiliated with various leagues and federations for the fiscal year 2026 will be discussed.
Financially, a significant portion of the second session will be devoted to studying and voting on the Marrakech municipality budget for the fiscal year 2027. This will also include reviewing expenditure accounts from the allocated amounts for the districts for the same financial year, as well as transferring and reprogramming allocations from certain sections of the municipality budget for 2026.
Moreover, the council will review summary reports on the management of district councils, in accordance with Article 239 of the organic law relating to municipalities. This October session is poised to address a myriad of managerial, financial, real estate, and sports-related issues, alongside discussions on transportation, urban mobility, public lighting, infrastructure, heritage, and the right to access information, all in line with the officially set agenda for the sessions.
