Marrakech Court Delivers Verdict on Content Creator
In a significant ruling delivered earlier today, Monday, August 17, 2026, the Marrakech Court of First Instance has sentenced the well-known content creator, popularly referred to as 'Kalamour,' to a term of 10 months in prison, in addition to imposing a fine of 500 dirhams. Furthermore, the court has mandated a three-year prohibition on her use of social media platforms. This verdict follows the initial session of her trial, during which she was brought before the court while in custody, having been detained in the local Oudaya prison due to a case linked to content she published across various digital platforms.
The public prosecutor had previously decided to initiate legal proceedings against Kalamour based on actions that were legally classified as a public violation of public decency. The charges stemmed from the dissemination of video clips and excerpts from a live broadcast that were deemed to contain content contrary to public morals. Notably, she was apprehended by elements of the national police at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca while attempting to exit the country. This operation was conducted in coordination with the security services in Marrakech, leading to her judicial investigation and subsequent referral to the public prosecutor, who opted for her detention during the proceedings.
The ruling from the Marrakech court is a decisive step in addressing the actions attributed to Kalamour, which include the stipulated penalties of imprisonment, financial fines, and restrictions on her social media usage for the specified duration of three years as prescribed by law. This case highlights the increasing scrutiny of content shared on digital platforms and the legal implications that can arise from it.
