Marrakech Court Rules on Content Creator's Case

On August 17, 2026, the Marrakech First Instance Court delivered a significant verdict against renowned content creator known as "Kalamour." She was sentenced to 10 months in prison along with a fine of 500 dirhams, and more notably, she has been banned from using social media platforms for a period of three years. This ruling came after the initial hearing of her trial, where she was referred to the court while in custody, having been detained at the local prison in Aoudaya due to a case linked to the content she shared on digital platforms.

The public prosecution had initiated proceedings against her based on actions that were legally classified as a public disturbance to decency, following the dissemination of video clips and excerpts from a live broadcast that were deemed inappropriate according to public morals.

Authorities apprehended her at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca while she attempted to leave the country, with coordination from security services in Marrakech. Subsequently, she was subjected to a judicial investigation and was subsequently charged while in custody.

The court's ruling reflects a broader societal response to the content attributed to her, imposing penalties that include imprisonment, fines, and restrictions on her social media usage as mandated by law. This case highlights the ongoing discourse surrounding digital content and its implications in the public sphere.
