Economic Growth in Marrakech-Es-Safi Region
Recent data from the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property has unveiled a strong economic activity within the Marrakech-Es-Safi region over the past year. This robust growth is evidenced by the establishment of 12,341 new enterprises, highlighting the region's attractiveness for both national and local investments. According to the Business Creation Barometer for 2025, these new businesses are comprised of 9,918 corporate entities (companies) and 2,423 sole proprietorships. These figures underscore the dominance of structured companies in the regional economic landscape, particularly the 'Limited Liability Companies with a Single Partner,' which accounted for a substantial 63.9% of the legal choices made by entrepreneurs.
In terms of geographical distribution within the region, the Marrakech province claimed the lion's share, with 9,614 new companies established. Following this, the city of Safi contributed 949 businesses, while the provinces of Kelaa des Sraghna and Essaouira added 527 and 526 new companies, respectively. The subsequent provinces of Rehamna, Chichaoua, and Youssoufia reported figures ranging from 306 to 183 newly established businesses.
Sector Contributions to Business Initiatives
Sector-wise analysis reveals that the trade sector remains the primary driver of entrepreneurial initiatives, contributing a significant 27.34% to new business formations. This is closely followed by the construction and real estate sectors, which account for 24.67%, and diverse service sectors that represent 20.12%. Additionally, activities related to hospitality, restaurants, and transportation have made notable contributions, while the manufacturing and information technology sectors continue to lag behind, contributing less than 6% of the total.
On a national scale, the Marrakech-Es-Safi region ranks fourth in terms of business creation, following the Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra regions. This ranking is part of a national total of 109,656 newly established companies by the end of 2025. These developments not only reflect the growing entrepreneurial spirit in the region but also its potential for future investment and economic diversification.
