Marrakech Extends Restaurant and Café Operating Hours for World Cup 2026

The city of Marrakech has officially announced the extension of operating hours for restaurants and cafés across various neighborhoods, allowing them to remain open until 4 AM during the duration of the World Cup, which is currently being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This decision, communicated through a press release issued on Thursday, will be in effect from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It aims to facilitate the viewing and enjoyment of football matches throughout this period.

Notably, Marrakech is the only municipality in the nation to have made such a decision, as other localities have yet to announce similar extensions for their dining establishments. Furthermore, the President of the National Association of Café and Restaurant Owners in Morocco stated in a press interview that local authorities have not issued any official orders prohibiting cafés and restaurants from operating late at night to showcase World Cup matches.

This move by Marrakech not only highlights the city's commitment to enhancing the experience of World Cup fans but also reflects a broader trend of accommodating sports enthusiasts during significant global events. As the excitement builds around the tournament, the extended hours will provide ample opportunities for locals and tourists alike to gather, celebrate, and engage with the world of football.
