Marrakech Welcomes Key Economic Forum
From June 19 to 21, 2026, Marrakech is the venue for the Euro-Mediterranean Economic Parliamentary Forum, a significant gathering that aims to address critical issues including economic growth, energy transition, artificial intelligence, and regional cooperation. This prestigious event was inaugurated by Mohamed Ould Errachid, the President of the Moroccan House of Councillors, who emphasized the importance of expanding partnerships with Africa as a key strategic direction of the forum.
During the opening ceremony, Ould Errachid addressed an audience of over 400 political leaders, institutional officials, and representatives from international organizations, highlighting the significance of economic integration and cooperation within the Euro-Mediterranean region. He articulated that this forum has become a pivotal platform for inter-parliamentary dialogue and a beacon for parliamentary diplomacy, particularly in light of the Royal Initiative aimed at fostering collaboration among 23 African countries along the Atlantic façade.
Strategic Discussions and Regional Diplomacy
The discussions taking place at this fourth edition of the forum will focus on various themes including regional economic integration, the advent of artificial intelligence, energy transition, development financing, and regional cooperation. Notably, the event is co-organized with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (APM), an international organization that brings together 34 member parliaments from the Euro-Mediterranean area and the Gulf, striving to enhance political dialogue and address major economic, security, and geopolitical challenges faced by the region.
Not only does this forum tackle economic matters, but it also serves as a vital platform for political dialogue and parliamentary diplomacy. Throughout the event, Moroccan representatives, including ministers and parliamentarians, are expected to reaffirm Morocco's position on the Sahara issue, advocating for the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a credible and serious solution recognized by the United Nations Security Council.
By fostering an environment of collaboration and dialogue, the forum aspires to emerge as a mini-Davos for Morocco, facilitating connections between various stakeholders in the region and beyond, ultimately working towards enhanced economic stability and cooperation.
