Marrakech Hosts the 4th Edition of GITEX Africa: A Landmark Tech Event

Marrakech: The Epicenter of Technological Innovation

The vibrant city of Marrakech has once again positioned itself as a pivotal hub for global technology by hosting the fourth edition of GITEX Africa Morocco. Kicking off on April 7, 2026, this monumental event has attracted over 50,000 participants and more than 1,450 exhibitors from 130 countries, making it the largest tech and entrepreneurial gathering on the continent. Under the esteemed patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the opening ceremony featured a keynote address from Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, alongside numerous government officials, national and international investors, and esteemed speakers from diverse backgrounds.

This year’s GITEX Africa Morocco is organized by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, in collaboration with the Agency for Digital Development (ADD) and KAOUN International, a subsidiary of Dubai World Trade Centre. The theme for this edition is "Catalyzing Africa's Digital Economy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," aiming to serve as a major platform for pan-African cooperation. This initiative seeks to bridge global innovation with the continent's sovereignty challenges, fostering the deployment of impactful digital solutions that lay the groundwork for Africa's future economic resilience.

Innovations and Key Focus Areas at GITEX Africa Morocco

In 2026, GITEX Africa Morocco introduces several new sectoral spaces while enhancing existing ones, reflecting the continent's most dynamic technological priorities. Among the highlights are smart infrastructure for data centers, specifically designed to address the structural deficiencies that hinder Africa's digital economy development. Additionally, a dedicated area focusing on fintech and the future of finance will showcase solutions related to mobile money, AI-driven financial inclusion, and cross-border payments.

The event will also feature a section devoted to the future of mobility, showcasing electric, autonomous, and connected transportation solutions, as well as a Sports Tech hub that emphasizes intelligent sports infrastructures and technologies for optimizing athlete performance, alongside new fan engagement formats. GITEX Africa Morocco continues to prioritize cybersecurity, offering a dedicated program developed in partnership with Morocco's General Directorate of Information Systems Security (DGSSI).

Moreover, the Strategic Digital Defence AI Readiness (STAR) summit will facilitate high-level discussions aimed at equipping African businesses, industries, and emerging digital economies with the necessary frameworks to protect critical infrastructures against increasingly sophisticated AI-driven threats. As an international digital cooperation platform, GITEX Africa Morocco solidifies its role as a structural force supporting an ambitious, innovative, and sovereign digital Africa. Building on the success of previous editions, this event is set to foster new alliances and explore increasingly strategic technological sectors, further enhancing its impact on the evolution of the African digital landscape.
