Marrakech to Host the 7th Edition of 'Hourouf'

The vibrant city of Marrakech is set to host the 7th edition of the national gathering known as 'Hourouf,' dedicated to poets, critics, and emerging talents. This significant event, organized by the House of Poetry in Marrakech, will take place on June 12 and 13. The gathering aims to serve as a platform for dialogue and exchange among young poets and critics, fostering a space for sharing experiences while reflecting the institution's commitment to embracing new poetic and critical voices that hold promise for the future.

According to a statement from the House of Poetry, this year's event will highlight the works of the winners of the 'Best Poem' and 'Poetic Criticism' awards, which are designated for young poets, critics, and researchers from 2025. This edition represents a pivotal step in addressing the ongoing questions within poetic criticism, responding to a growing need for knowledge that aims to accompany the rich tapestry of Moroccan poetry, characterized by its diversity across experiences, sensitivities, and generations. Furthermore, it seeks to welcome new approaches and perspectives introduced by young Moroccan critics and researchers actively engaged in critical and intellectual reflection.

New Publications and Cultural Presentations

The program for the gathering is set to feature poetic readings by several contributors from the collection 'Ichraqat,' along with presentations by awarded young critics and researchers. These presentations will tackle various issues and themes related to Moroccan poetry, particularly the critical challenges discussed in their studies, research, and articles. Additionally, a forum will be dedicated to exploring the current state of Moroccan poetry through its new poetic voices. This cultural event will also showcase the latest publications from the House of Poetry in Marrakech for this year, including the 7th series of its collective collection 'Ichraqat Chii‘riya' (Poetic Sparks), which features poems from 48 poets who have received the 'Best Poem' award, along with articles from the winners of the 'Poetic Criticism' award in the articles category.

The House of Poetry in Marrakech aims, through the 'Best Poem' and 'Poetic Criticism' awards, to encourage young talents in the realms of poetic creation and criticism. By doing so, it hopes to promote greater openness to emerging poetic voices, providing support and motivation for these young creators to continue their literary journeys and engage in poetic writing.
