According to a security source, the cybersecurity monitoring services detected a video circulating on social media pages on Monday evening, showcasing an individual attempting to extort and threaten a foreign citizen using violence in the historic city of Marrakech. Initial investigations conducted by the Marrakech Police Department revealed that no complaints, reports, or calls had been received via the "line 19" concerning this criminal incident.
In adherence to the law, the published video was treated as a report of alleged crimes, prompting the initiation of a judicial inquiry under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office. This investigation led to the identification of the suspect, who has a significant criminal history, including charges for unlicensed tour guiding and violence against family members. Following this, the suspect was arrested during a security operation executed in the rural area of "Zmran" on the outskirts of Marrakech.
The suspect is currently undergoing judicial investigation overseen by the relevant public prosecutor's office to uncover all circumstances and details surrounding this case, as well as to identify the real motivations behind these criminal acts.
