Marrakech Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking
In a series of decisive law enforcement operations, the police in Marrakech have successfully intercepted significant drug trafficking activities, highlighting their ongoing commitment to combatting illegal drug distribution in the region. In two separate incidents, authorities apprehended individuals involved in the possession and trafficking of various narcotics, including hard drugs and psychotropic substances.
The first operation led to the arrest of a suspect found in a utility vehicle, who was caught red-handed with 37 slabs of hashish, carefully concealed within the vehicle. The total weight of the confiscated hashish amounted to a substantial 3 kilograms and 340 grams, showcasing the scale of the drug trade in the area.
In another operation in the Al-Mohammadi neighborhood, a second individual was arrested while in possession of a cocaine package, along with a sum of money believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking activities. Authorities also seized a motorcycle that the suspect was utilizing for drug distribution, further implicating him in the ongoing drug operations.
Following these arrests, a thorough legal search was conducted in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie at a commercial establishment linked to one of the suspects. This search yielded an additional 10 slabs of hashish weighing 810 grams, 308 tablets of a hallucinogenic drug, and 420 grams of raw cocaine, along with a digital scale and plastic bags prepared for the packaging of hard drugs. These findings underscore the well-organized nature of the drug trafficking networks operating within the region.
Both suspects have been placed under police custody to facilitate further investigation and will be presented to the competent judicial authorities as per the directives from the public prosecutor's office.
