Marrakech Achieves Impressive Tourism Growth
As of the end of May 2026, Marrakech has marked a significant milestone by registering a total of 6.05 million overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation establishments. This impressive figure reflects a robust growth rate of 10% compared to the same period in 2025. The tourism observatory highlighted that Marrakech accounted for 33% of the total overnight stays recorded nationwide during the first five months of this year, showcasing its prominence as a leading tourist destination in Morocco.
Furthermore, the occupancy rate for classified tourist accommodations in Marrakech reached 72% at the end of May, maintaining the same level as the previous year's figures for the same period. In May alone, the city recorded over 1.3 million overnight stays, marking a 9% increase from May 2025, with an impressive occupancy rate of 78% during that month.
On a national scale, classified tourist accommodations across Morocco recorded 18.1 million overnight stays by the end of May 2026, reflecting a 9% increase compared to the same period last year. The national occupancy rate also saw a slight improvement, climbing to 56%, which is an increase of one percentage point year-on-year.
