This week at the Rally 2, Martim Ventura has proven to be the frontrunner, showcasing his prowess in the challenging terrain. However, today's stage four was designed to put his skills to the test as he aimed for a flawless run. Unfortunately, he encountered a significant setback when a malfunction with his roadbook switch prevented him from scrolling through his navigation notes, complicating his route early in the stage. In light of this challenge, Ventura found himself joining forces with Rally GP riders Daniel Sanders, Ricky Brabec, and Adrien Van Beveren, gaining invaluable experience riding alongside these seasoned competitors for the remainder of the stage. Ultimately, he secured a third-place finish in the Rally 2 class, extending his overall advantage over his closest rival, Michael Docherty, to nearly 30 minutes, with only one stage left in the competition.
Bruno Crivilin, on the other hand, had a more favorable day, experiencing fewer challenges with the dunes after a tough outing yesterday. As he concentrated on perfecting his navigation, the Brazilian consistently stayed within the top five Rally 2 contenders throughout the stage. He finished fifth, crossing the line 6 minutes and 33 seconds behind stage victor Docherty, adding yet another day of crucial experience to his repertoire as he readies for next year's Dakar Rally.
In contrast, Preston Campbell faced a tougher challenge today, losing valuable time due to a couple of errors and crashes. He concluded the stage in sixth place, trailing by 7 minutes and 8 seconds. Nevertheless, Campbell still holds a provisional spot on the overall podium, although he will need to keep a close eye on Neels Theric in tomorrow's final stage, as the French rider has managed to close the gap to just five minutes.
With the finish line nearly within reach, the Honda Rally 2 team has just 259 kilometers of timed action left to solidify their positions at the 27th edition of the Rallye du Maroc.
