Matthias Walkner Achieves Victory at Rallye du Maroc
The former Dakar Rally champion, Matthias Walkner, marked an impressive start to the Rallye du Maroc, showcasing his skills and determination in the challenging terrain of Morocco. Competing in the T4-SSV class alongside his new Spanish co-driver, Oriol Mena, Walkner triumphed on the first stage, which spanned an arduous 636 kilometers from Agadir to Zagora. The duo navigated the course with precision and speed, ultimately securing the stage victory with a remarkable lead of nearly seven minutes over their nearest competitors, Jeremias Gonzalez Ferioli and his co-driver Gonzalo Rinaldi from Argentina.

Despite being in the 30th position overall, the 40-year-old rider expressed satisfaction with his debut alongside Mena, describing the initial phase as somewhat challenging due to unfamiliarity with the vehicle and the new navigational language.
