Meknes Municipality Takes Bold Step to Enhance Public Transport
In a significant move aimed at improving urban transport services, the Meknes Municipal Council has voted overwhelmingly to terminate its contract with City Bus, the company previously responsible for managing the public transport sector in the city. To effectively handle the public transport sector, Meknes has decided to leverage its own resources by establishing a dedicated treasury account to manage operational costs and settle outstanding wages owed to City Bus employees. The president of the municipality took to social media to announce the decision, emphasizing that all necessary legal measures have been implemented to hold City Bus accountable for its failure to meet contractual obligations regarding public transport management.
The municipality plans to take over the temporary management of urban transport services to ensure continuity of service until a local development company is set up to take over the management of public transportation.
