Meknes Gears Up for the Seventh International Tourism Forum
Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the city of Meknes is set to host the seventh edition of the International Tourism Forum (FITAM) from October 9 to 11, 2026. This significant event is organized by the Grand Ismaili Association in partnership with the Fes-Meknes Regional Tourism Council, the Meknes Regional Tourism Council, the Fes-Meknes Region, and the Meknes Municipality, along with several public and private sector institutions.
This year's forum will be held under the theme "Meknes the Empire: A Tourist Experience at the Heart of Redeveloped Heritage." This theme highlights the relationship between the historical assets of the city and the initiatives aimed at enhancing and promoting its heritage, positioning tourism as a key area connected to this rich legacy. The seventh edition follows the sixth, which took place in December 2024, focusing on investment, tourism activation, enhancing the city's appeal, and fostering partnerships among various stakeholders in the sector.
Since its inception, the forum has served as a platform for discussions on developing the tourism offer in Meknes and showcasing its heritage potential. The promotional materials for this upcoming edition indicate participation from numerous institutions and partners, including the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social Economy, and Solidarity, the Fes-Meknes Region, the Meknes Municipality, the Regional Tourism Council, and the Provincial Tourism Council, alongside various professional and academic entities.
The upcoming forum aims to place Meknes' heritage and its rehabilitation at the center of the tourist experience, opening discussions on how to enhance historical and cultural landmarks and connect them with tourism offerings, services, and activities. This creates a vibrant dialogue around the potential for tourism to drive economic growth and cultural appreciation in the region.
