Significant Decrease in Cement Deliveries

In a striking downturn, the Moroccan cement market witnessed a contraction of 12.6% year-on-year in February 2026, with total cement deliveries plummeting to 1,048,338 tons compared to 1,199,868 tons in February 2025. This data, released by the APC and reported by the Ministry of National Territorial Development, Urban Planning, Housing, and Urban Policy, highlights a concerning trend in the sector. The wholesale segment, which is the largest market for cement, recorded a steep decline of 17.5%, dropping from 662,247 tons to 546,214 tons. The ready-mix concrete sector also faced challenges, experiencing a 2.6% decrease in deliveries, falling from 292,089 tons to 284,411 tons during the same period. The prefabricated concrete segment endured the most severe contraction, with a staggering 22.7% drop in deliveries, from 126,844 tons in February 2025 to just 97,997 tons in February 2026. Similarly, the building market saw a decline of 7.2%, with supplies decreasing to 35,566 tons from 38,343 tons. The mortar segment also faced a downturn, with deliveries down 5.6% to 4,850 tons from 5,137 tons. Interestingly, the infrastructure market was the only segment to report growth, showing an increase of 5.4% year-on-year, with dispatches rising to 79,299 tons from 75,207 tons.

Trends Over January-February 2026

When examining the broader timeframe of January to February 2026, the trends remain troubling, with total cement deliveries declining by 15.8% year-on-year, dropping to 2,092,631 tons from 2,485,482 tons in the same period of the previous year. The wholesale segment, again the largest contributor, faced a dramatic decline of 21.1%, falling to 1,080,084 tons from 1,368,867 tons in the previous year. Meanwhile, the prefabricated concrete sector saw a decrease of 18.3%, with dispatches falling to 217,497 tons from 266,191 tons. Both the ready-mix concrete and building markets experienced a decrease of 7.2%, with ready-mix concrete dispatches declining to 558,667 tons from 601,833 tons and building segment deliveries dropping to 70,646 tons from 76,122 tons. Infrastructure deliveries also witnessed a slight decline of 4.6%, down to 155,322 tons from 162,744 tons. Conversely, the mortars sector stood out as the only segment to achieve growth, with deliveries increasing by 7.1% to 10,415 tons from 9,721 tons during the same two-month period.
