Strengthening Consular Services for Moroccans in Almería
The Consulate General of Morocco in Almería is dedicated to improving consular services for the Moroccan community residing in this southern Spanish province through a new initiative aimed at enhancing accessibility and efficiency. During an interview with MAP, Soumia Fathi, the Consul General in Almería, emphasized the unwavering dedication of the consular team in implementing this initiative. The team has introduced extended hours and weekend shifts, which are crucial in providing optimal reception conditions and facilitating the efficient processing of requests. These enhancements are directly aligned with the expectations of the Moroccan community in the region, which is home to a substantial population of Moroccans.
Fathi also noted the positive impact of new procedures, particularly the introduction of documents with an apostille, which have significantly streamlined administrative tasks for users. Since the initiative commenced on February 11, the Consulate has managed to process over 13,000 requests, averaging nearly 700 files daily. This remarkable mobilization reflects the consulate's efforts to meet the high demand for its services.
In support of this initiative, local civil society has stepped up, providing assistance by issuing vulnerability certificates for individuals in need. On a single Saturday, the consulate delivered several hundred services, with a particular focus on helping those in remote locations or individuals who have limited availability, thereby enabling greater access to essential consular services.
