Moroccan Supporters Face High Ticket Prices for World Cup 2026 Matches

As the World Cup 2026 approaches, Moroccan fans, both from the country and the diaspora, are confronted with exorbitant ticket prices, making it increasingly difficult to attend matches featuring the Lions of the Atlas. The highly anticipated clash between Morocco and Brazil is set to take place on June 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, drawing thousands of fans from around the globe. However, for many, securing a seat in the stands has turned into an arduous challenge. On resale platforms, ticket prices have soared to unprecedented levels, with some tickets exceeding $1,500 and even reaching several thousand dollars.

In the bustling streets of New York, numerous Moroccan supporters express their frustration. Many have booked their trips months in advance, convinced they would be able to witness their team in action. Upon arrival, they were faced with a starkly different reality. One Moroccan fan in New York shared, "Many supporters still don’t have tickets. Prices range between €2,000 and €4,000. We live in France, but we came to support our team. Morocco is in our blood. We had anticipated this trip for a long time, but we didn’t expect ticket prices to reach such heights." Another fan, who traveled to the United States without securing a ticket, lamented, "We were already searching for tickets in Morocco and continue to look here. I still hope to find one before the match. In Morocco, prices were already around $1,200 to $1,500. Now, to attend the match with my son, I would have to pay between $2,500 and $3,000. That’s far too expensive."

Fortunately, some fans have managed to secure tickets through Royal Air Maroc’s special offers. However, this has not been the case for many, particularly within the Moroccan community in the United States, where finding tickets remains a significant challenge. To support the enthusiasm of Moroccan fans for their Lions of the Atlas, the national carrier Royal Air Maroc has implemented an exceptional plan, scheduling special flights to cities hosting matches during the group stage, including New York, Boston, and Atlanta. This is a historic initiative as it marks the first time the airline has serviced Atlanta.

In total, 32 additional flights and over 8,800 seats have been added to accommodate the high demand from supporters eager to follow the Lions of the Atlas in the United States. Despite these hurdles, the mobilization of Moroccan supporters remains impressive. In the absence of tickets, many plan to watch the matches in fan zones, demonstrating their unwavering loyalty and passion for their national team.
