Morocco Recognized as a Model Partner by Austria
During a meeting in Vienna, Austrian National Council President Walter Rosenkranz emphasized Morocco's role as a model country and a key partner in addressing significant global economic, security, and diplomatic challenges. This statement was made during his reception of Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita. Rosenkranz highlighted Morocco's stability and reliability as a partner, noting the convergence of perspectives between Austria and Morocco in contributing to the international order.
Rosenkranz further reflected on the long-standing diplomatic relations between Austria and Morocco, which date back to 1783, and characterized this historical partnership as one based on mutual respect and solid foundations. He recognized Morocco's diplomatic engagement on the global stage, attributing it to a serious and effective approach to international relations.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
Minister Bourita acknowledged the directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI aimed at expanding international relations and establishing partnerships with reliable countries that share a common vision based on responsibility and mutual respect, such as Austria. He also lauded the role of the Austrian National Council in enhancing bilateral relations, recalling Rosenkranz's impactful visit to Morocco in November 2025, which significantly boosted cooperation dynamics between the two nations.
During his official visit to Austria, at the invitation of Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Bourita underscored the quality of cooperation between Morocco and Austria, particularly in security, consular affairs, and the fight against human trafficking and organized crime. He reiterated that the relationship between Morocco and Austria, spanning over 240 years, continues to evolve and adapt, effectively addressing the international challenges of recent years.
