Morocco’s Ambitious Tourism Target for Belgian Visitors

In a strategic move to bolster its position as a premier travel destination for Belgian tourists, Morocco is intensifying efforts to attract two million visitors from Belgium annually by the year 2030. This ambitious goal is backed by a notable increase in tourist arrivals from this market, underscoring the kingdom's commitment to enhancing its appeal among Belgian travelers. From September 30 to October 4, 2026, the Tamuda Bay region will host the annual meeting of "Selectair," a prominent network of independent travel agencies in Belgium, which is composed of 88 agencies employing approximately 320 staff members predominantly based in the Flanders region.

This meeting presents a unique opportunity for Morocco to showcase its rich tourism offerings to Belgian travel professionals. Attendees will gain insight into the diverse range of experiences available across Morocco, including coastal and cultural tourism, luxurious hotel stays, customized travel itineraries based on visitor interests, as well as exploration and entertainment activities. Key participants in the event include travel agents, members of the network’s board, and representatives from various industry stakeholders such as TUI Belgium, Brussels Airport, MSC Cruises, RIU Hotels, Amadeus, and Allianz Partners, along with the Flemish Association of Travel Agents.

The initiative comes at a time when the Belgian market is demonstrating positive growth in terms of tourist visits to Morocco. In 2025, the kingdom welcomed approximately 1.2 million Belgian tourists, marking a 10% increase from the previous year. The upward trend continued into the first seven months of 2026, with over 834,000 Belgian tourists visiting Morocco, representing an 8% year-on-year increase. The Moroccan government aims to elevate this number to around 1.4 million Belgian visitors for the current year, setting the stage for reaching the ambitious target of two million tourists annually by 2030.

In parallel with this professional gathering, Selectair plans to launch a promotional campaign dedicated to Morocco across its various communication channels. This campaign will include articles, digital content, social media engagement, newsletters, and online advertising initiatives. The event will be supported media-wise by TravelMedia BeLux, which will cover the event's various stages.

The Moroccan National Tourism Office is optimistic that these efforts will expand its network of relationships with Belgian travel stakeholders and enhance the visibility of Moroccan destinations within the offerings of independent travel agencies. This strategy aims to capture new segments of tourists and convert interest in Morocco's rich tourism potential into actual bookings.

This forward-thinking approach reflects Morocco’s reliance on professional partnerships and targeted promotional campaigns aimed at specific markets, with the ultimate goal of diversifying tourist sources and boosting visitor flows.
