Morocco's Strategic Moves in the Aviation Industry

In a significant development for the aviation sector, the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Commerce has signed three memoranda of understanding with leading global companies during the eighth edition of the Marrakech International Aviation Exhibition, held from October 7 to 10, 2026. These partnerships, which total investments exceeding $40 million, are set to bolster Morocco's position in the aerospace industry, as reported by local outlets such as «لكم» and «إندستري دو ماروك».

Details of the Partnerships

According to reports, the first agreement was made with «آ بي إس كوتينغ», aiming to establish a surface treatment unit for aircraft spare parts, involving an investment of €18 million. This initiative is expected to create around 120 direct jobs. The second memorandum was signed with «ماتيس», focusing on the development of its specialized unit for manufacturing electrical wiring for aircraft, with an estimated investment of approximately $16.5 million, which could generate up to 750 direct job opportunities.

The third memorandum, established between the ministry, the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development, and «ميكابول للطيران والدفاع», aims to enhance the operational capabilities of spare parts designated for aircraft and helicopters. This partnership involves an investment of €10 million and is projected to create about 80 direct jobs, as noted by «لكم».

On the opening day of the exhibition, which took place at the Royal Armed Forces Air Base in Marrakech and featured nearly 200 exhibitors from 27 countries, additional agreements were also signed to promote research and development in aviation and manufacturing through the African Manufacturing Excellence Center. Notable participants included the Office Chérifien des Phosphates, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, and various international companies such as Boeing, Airbus, and Safran. Furthermore, the Ministry of Industry and Royal Air Maroc signed an agreement to integrate more locally manufactured products and services into the national carrier's supply chains.
