Moroccan Representation at the Lumière Summit

Strengthening International Cooperation and Cultural Diversity
A joint statement from the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication and the Moroccan Cinematic Center underscored that the summit gathered nearly 200 public officials, industry executives, creators, producers, distributors, digital platform representatives, video game professionals, emerging technology stakeholders, and representatives from international organizations from over 60 countries across all five continents. The Moroccan participation, led by Abdelaziz Boujdaïni, Secretary General of the Communication Sector, and Reda Benjelloun, Director of the Moroccan Cinematic Center, reflects the kingdom's ongoing efforts to foster international dialogue based on collaboration and the promotion of cultural diversity.
During the summit, Morocco joined the "Lumière Alliance" as a founding member, establishing the first global network of national cinematic institutions from around the world. This initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices while addressing the major challenges facing the film industry. The kingdom intends to leverage its strategic position as a crossroads between Africa, the Arab world, the Mediterranean region, and Europe, offering its expertise and experience in the field.
Furthermore, Morocco plans to participate in the "IRIS" program (the International Initiative for Resilience of Independent Cinemas) and will also engage in an experimental program focused on visual education. The Moroccan involvement in the Lumière Summit reaffirms its steadfast commitment to enhancing international cooperation in cinema and moving images.
