Morocco's Growing Appeal to Brazilian Travelers
In an impressive turn of events, Morocco has observed a remarkable surge in Brazilian tourists, with a reported 14% increase in the first half of 2026. According to the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), a total of 30,132 Brazilian visitors graced the North African nation between January and June, a significant rise from the 26,545 who made the journey during the same period last year. This growth reflects Morocco's ongoing efforts to enhance its appeal as a travel destination, particularly for Brazilian nationals, who are increasingly drawn to the country's rich culture, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities.
Among the Brazilian travelers, June alone saw 4,180 tourists arriving in Morocco, marking a 5% increase compared to June 2025. This uptick has solidified Brazil's position as Morocco's 20th largest source of international tourists, trailing behind countries like France, Spain, and the United States. Overall, Morocco welcomed an impressive 9.3 million tourists in the first six months of 2026, up 6% from the previous year, highlighting the nation's flourishing tourism sector.
Investment in Connectivity and Growth
The ONMT's regional office for Brazil has indicated that Casablanca Airport serves as the primary entry point for Brazilian tourists, with direct flights provided by Royal Air Maroc. Additionally, a substantial number of Brazilian travelers are arriving through Marrakech, utilizing services from various European airlines. In a strategic move to capitalize on this growing market, Morocco has been actively investing in initiatives aimed at attracting more tourists from Brazil, which is seen as having significant growth potential beyond traditional European markets.
Royal Air Maroc has responded to this demand by expanding its flight frequency to Brazil, having resumed operations between Casablanca and São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport in 2024. By the end of 2026, the airline plans to operate five weekly flights to São Paulo and is set to introduce new routes connecting Casablanca to Rio de Janeiro in 2027. This expanded connectivity is anticipated to further enhance travel opportunities for Brazilian tourists eager to experience the wonders of Morocco.
