Morocco's Commitment to Combating Poverty
On July 9, 2026, in Ningxia, People's Republic of China, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Walzin, presented Morocco's extensive experience in combating poverty during an international seminar. This event highlighted the strategic importance Morocco places on poverty alleviation and social welfare under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The seminar was themed "The Path to Modernization: Lessons Learned from Chinese Theory and Practice in Poverty Eradication" and took place on July 8 and 9.
In his speech, Walzin emphasized that Morocco's National Initiative for Human Development, launched in 2005, has been a pioneering model focused on social inclusion and improving living conditions for vulnerable groups. He noted that this initiative has significantly shaped the country’s public policies aimed at combating poverty and social vulnerability.

Walzin further elaborated on how Morocco’s experience in poverty eradication has been bolstered by substantial projects related to universal social protection and direct support programs. Additionally, the Deputy Speaker praised China's exemplary achievements in eliminating extreme poverty, which serve as an inspiring model worthy of study. He highlighted that China's success has lifted millions out of poverty and significantly improved living standards in rural areas. Morocco looks forward to strengthening its partnership with China across various developmental sectors, reflecting the depth of their bilateral relations and mutual desire to elevate them for the benefit of both peoples, thereby promoting sustainable development on a global scale.
