Morocco Signs Agreement to Join International Stabilization Force in Gaza

On July 15, 2026, Morocco officially signed an agreement to participate in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, as confirmed by the National Defense Administration. This significant move follows the directives of King Mohammed VI, the Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), as well as the President of the Al Quds Committee.

The signing ceremony took place in Rabat, where Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Residents Abroad, along with Abdeltif Loudyi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, welcomed Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative of the Peace Council for Gaza. Mladenov led a high-level delegation that included officials from the Peace Council and the commander of the ISF in Gaza. The meeting also saw the participation of the Inspector General of the FAR and the Commander of the Southern Zone, alongside the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.

This visit was highlighted by the signing of the agreement concerning Morocco's involvement in the ISF, according to a statement from the National Defense Administration. Morocco's contribution will include the deployment of high-ranking FAR officials alongside the ISF Joint Command, as well as personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). Additionally, Morocco will establish a field military hospital in the region.

The Moroccan side emphasized that this participation underscores the Kingdom's commitment to the values of peace, cooperation, and international solidarity, as well as its determination to contribute to the establishment of peace and security in the Middle East. Moreover, Morocco highlighted its accumulated experience in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations and its unwavering commitment to regional and international stability. The signed agreement establishes the legal framework governing the technical and operational aspects of Morocco's participation, reflecting the desire to contribute through concrete humanitarian and security actions to the creation of a climate of peace and stability in the region.
