Morocco's U20 National Team Defeated by Libya in UNAF Tournament

The U20 national team of Morocco faced a challenging defeat against their Libyan counterparts, concluding the match with a score of 2-3 during the final day of the UNAF tournament held in Egypt. Despite the loss, the young Atlas Lions have already secured their place in the upcoming Africa U20 Cup of Nations (CAN U20), showcasing their potential throughout the tournament.

Under the guidance of coach Ludovic Batteli, the Moroccan team began the tournament with a goalless draw against Tunisia, followed by an impressive victory over Algeria, where they won 3-1, and then a solid performance against Egypt, which ended in a 2-0 win. Their qualification for the CAN U20 was clinched after the match with the Pharaohs. The UNAF U20 tournament, which took place from September 24 to October 6, featured five national teams: Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, with the top two teams qualifying for the CAN U20 finals.

Finishing the tournament in second place with a total of 7 points, Morocco trailed Egypt, who emerged victorious against Algeria in their last match with a score of 2-0. This tournament has not only been a preparation ground for the young players but also a stage to showcase their talents ahead of the continental competition. Fans of the Atlas Lions can look forward to their next matches in March in Ghana, which will host the CAN U20 in 2027.
