Morocco's Tourism Surge: A Remarkable Growth in Visitor Numbers
As of August 2026, Morocco has successfully attracted a total of 14.1 million tourists, marking an impressive increase of 4.5% compared to the same period in the previous year. This surge translates to nearly 608,000 additional visitors who have contributed to invigorating the tourism sector and its associated activities. Notably, August 2026 witnessed a historic milestone as the number of visitors surpassed two million for the first time, growing by approximately 3% compared to August 2025. This exceptional performance underscores Morocco's growing appeal across various tourist markets.
According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, the Minister, Fatima Zahra Amour, emphasized that "the dynamics of Moroccan tourism are now based on solid and sustainable foundations." She highlighted the effectiveness of the "2023-2026 Roadmap," which has proven the efficacy of investments directed towards strategic levers, yielding tangible results both in terms of visitor numbers and the economic and social impact.
Amour further stressed that the sector holds promising potential, paving the way for a stronger future trajectory. She pointed out that the focus moving forward will be to expand these gains to encompass all regions and various professional stakeholders within the tourism ecosystem.
