Morocco's Tourist Surge in 2026
According to the Financial Studies and Forecasts Department, Morocco's tourism sector has witnessed a significant influx, with approximately 9.4 million visitors recorded by the end of June 2026. This marks a remarkable increase of 6% compared to the previous year. The surge in arrivals is attributed to a notable rise in tourists from various markets, including a 9% increase from France, a 14% increase from Germany, a 9% increase from Belgium, and a 10% increase from the Netherlands. Additionally, there were increases of 6% from Italy, 32% from Poland, 4% from the UK, and 9% from the USA.
Boost in Overnight Stays and Travel Revenues
The report further indicates that the number of overnight stays in classified accommodation facilities has also risen by 9% by the end of June, following a 12% increase the previous year. Destinations like Marrakech, Agadir, Casablanca, Tangier, and others have shown significant growth in overnight stays, with figures indicating a 10% rise in Marrakech, an 11% rise in Agadir, and a remarkable 23% rise in Ouarzazate. The overall travel revenues for Morocco reached 64.9 billion dirhams, marking a 15.9% increase by the end of June 2026. This notable improvement is attributed to a 23.5% increase in revenues during the first quarter and a 21.2% increase in the second quarter of the year.
