Morocco's Thriving Tourism Sector
According to recent data from the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Morocco has welcomed an impressive 14.1 million tourists by the end of August 2026, marking a notable increase of 4.5% compared to the same period in 2025. This surge translates to approximately 608,000 additional visitors, reflecting the country's growing appeal as a travel destination. The month of August was particularly remarkable, surpassing the two million tourist mark for the first time, which represents a 3% growth from August 2025. Such trends indicate a highly successful summer season, characterized by a sustained increase in interest for Morocco as a prime vacation spot.
In a statement provided by Fatima Zahra Amour, the Minister of Tourism, she emphasized that the dynamics of Moroccan tourism are now grounded on solid and sustainable foundations. The strategic roadmap for 2023-2026 has shown that targeted investments in key areas are yielding tangible results, both in terms of tourist numbers and their economic and social impacts. Minister Amour noted that the sector is endowed with tremendous potential and that the upcoming phases will be crucial for bolstering this momentum and expanding the benefits to various stakeholders within the industry. The positive trajectory of tourism in Morocco underscores the country’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and hospitality offerings to meet the growing demand.
