Remarkable Increase in Passenger Traffic

Morocco's airports have reported a remarkable milestone, serving a total of 22,282,997 passengers during the first seven months of 2026. This figure represents a significant growth of 8.77% compared to the same period in the previous year, as highlighted by the National Airports Office (ONDA). This impressive increase is attributed to a surge in both international and domestic travel, reflecting the country's growing appeal as a travel destination.

Key Highlights from the Traffic Report

According to ONDA’s commercial air traffic report for July 2026, international traffic alone rose by 8.82%, allowing a total of 19,894,489 passengers to travel internationally. Domestic travel also showed robust growth, with an increase of 8.36%, resulting in 2,388,508 domestic passengers. The leading airport, Casablanca Mohammed V, accounted for the highest traffic with approximately 6,953,695 passengers, followed closely by Marrakech-Menara, which welcomed 6,407,303 passengers. Other significant airports include Agadir-Al Massira, Tangier Ibn Battouta, and Rabat-Salé, each contributing to the overall growth.

The boost in international travel has been predominantly driven by the European market, which remains Morocco’s largest source of travelers. The European influx totaled 16,541,007 passengers, marking a 9.29% year-on-year increase. Notably, there has been substantial growth from other regions as well, with South America experiencing a 34.21% increase to 62,880 travelers, North America rising by 14.54% to 581,297, and Africa increasing by 13.74% to 1,175,674 passengers. However, traffic from the Middle East and Far East saw a decrease of 4.12%, totaling 1,238,443 passengers.

In terms of aircraft operations, Moroccan airports recorded 164,164 movements by the end of July 2026, reflecting a 9.82% increase from the previous year. Among these movements, Mohammed V Airport led with 55,223, ahead of Marrakech-Menara and Agadir-Al Massira. Furthermore, air freight traffic also saw an uptick, totaling 66,980.55 tonnes, which is a significant 12.61% rise compared to the same period in 2025.
