Record Passenger Numbers at Moroccan Airports
In a remarkable development, Moroccan airports welcomed a staggering total of 18,831,461 passengers during the first half of 2026. This figure represents an impressive increase of 8.83% compared to the same period in 2025, as reported by the National Office of Airports (ONDA). The growth in passenger traffic is categorized into international and domestic flights, with international traffic rising by 8.86% to reach 16,835,752 passengers, while domestic traffic saw an 8.6% increase, totalling 1,995,709 passengers. Leading Airports and Traffic Trends
Among the airports, Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport stood out, handling 5,756,388 passengers, which marks a remarkable growth of 10.13%. It was closely followed by Marrakech-Ménara Airport with 5,636,776 passengers, Agadir-Al Massira Airport with 1,878,974 passengers, and Tanger Ibn Batouta Airport with 1,402,756 passengers. This surge in passenger numbers has been significantly influenced by the strong performance of the European market, which remains the largest source of passengers with over 14 million travelers, reflecting a 9% increase from the previous year. Additionally, South America registered a notable rise of 34.31%, accommodating 53,807 passengers.
The African and North American markets also exhibited strong growth, with increases of 15.23% (971,193 passengers) and 15.46% (461,695 passengers), respectively. Furthermore, traffic with Maghreb countries rose by 11% to 244,069 passengers. Conversely, there was a slight decline in traffic from the Middle East and Far East, which saw a decrease of 5.66%, totaling 1,044,129 passengers.
As of June 2026, Moroccan airports recorded 138,353 aircraft movements, indicating a 9.65% year-on-year increase. Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport led in aircraft movements with 45,824, followed by Marrakech-Menara with 36,795 and Agadir-Al Massira with 12,962. The air freight sector also demonstrated positive growth, reaching 57,828.11 tonnes during the first half of the year, reflecting a 12.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025. In June alone, Moroccan airports welcomed 3,116,576 passengers, marking a 5.83% increase from the previous year.
