RNI Meets in Agadir: A Push for Political Engagement
On Saturday, August 29, in Agadir, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) held a significant mobilization meeting in the Souss-Massa region, drawing key political figures to the forefront. The event featured prominent leaders such as Aziz Akhannouch, the head of the government and president of the Agadir Municipal Council; Mohamed Chaouki, the president of RNI; Mustapha Baitas, the government spokesman; Zakia Driouich, the Secretary of State for Maritime Fishing; and Karim Achengli, the president of the regional council and regional coordinator for RNI. This gathering served as a pivotal political moment as the party unveiled its candidates for the upcoming legislative elections.
Aziz Akhannouch commenced the event by highlighting the achievements of his administration in Agadir. He elaborated on developments in various sectors, including urban transportation, green spaces, cultural and sports facilities, the rehabilitation of marginalized neighborhoods, and a surge in tourism. "The transformations occurring in Agadir today are not random projects but part of a cohesive vision aimed at enhancing the quality of life with dignity for citizens," he stated. Akhannouch then rallied his supporters, asserting, "The time for mobilization is now. Our goal is first place, and nothing less will suffice."
Key Announcements and a Call for Accountability
Mohamed Chaouki took the opportunity to engage in political comparisons, directly challenging the party's opponents with probing questions regarding their concrete proposals for employment, water access, social protection, and the recognition of the Amazigh language. He emphasized a clear call for accountability, contrasting the RNI's achievements with those of other parties. Following this, he officially announced the party's candidates for the seven local constituencies in the region: Zaïna Idhali for Agadir Ida-Outanane, Omar Amine for Inezgane Aït Melloul, Ismaïl Karrom for Chtouka Aït Baha, Abdellah Ghazi for Tiznit, Mustapha Tatmart for Tata, Lahcen Saadi for Taroudant Nord, and Nadia Bouhdoud Boudlal for Taroudant Sud. Zakia Driouich will lead the regional list.
Mustapha Baitas emphasized the importance of courageously acknowledging the party's accomplishments in the face of those seeking to downplay them. "Dismissing these successes serves no one," he asserted, advocating for a policy of transparency and strong civic engagement. Zakia Driouich, the lead candidate for the regional list, paid tribute to the women of the region and their commitment. With thirty years of experience in the maritime fishing sector, she possesses an intimate understanding of the territory. "Your voice is essential, and your presence within institutions is a crucial lever for change," she encouraged the women of Souss-Massa.
