Morocco's aviation industry is no longer solely focused on attracting foreign investments; it is now actively working to enhance its industrial and technical capabilities. This strategic shift aims to elevate the kingdom's competitiveness and broaden its presence in international markets, particularly in Africa.

The eighth edition of the Marrakech International Airshow, held from October 7 to 10, provided a significant platform for exploring opportunities for industrial and technological collaboration. The event saw participation from international companies, specialized institutions, and investors in the aviation and defense sectors.

One of the notable developments at the exhibition was the signing of a partnership agreement between Moroccan company Waga International and Canadian firm Canwest Aerospace. This agreement aims to establish a maintenance and repair center for helicopters in Benslimane, which is a strategic move to develop local expertise and enhance aviation services targeted at Morocco and the African continent.

Moreover, the event placed a special emphasis on skills development through its 'Talent Day' initiative, which brought together over 370 students from more than 12 Moroccan institutions. This initiative aimed to connect young individuals with training and employment opportunities within the aviation industry.

These initiatives indicate the growing stakes associated with the development of the sector. However, the challenge remains for Morocco to convert partnerships and investments into productive projects that create job opportunities, facilitate technology transfer, and strengthen the contribution of national companies to global production chains.
