Morocco's Humanitarian Approach Highlighted by Omar Hilale in Rabat

Morocco's Commitment to Humanitarian Action

In a significant international conference held in Rabat, Omar Hilale, Morocco's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, emphasized the Kingdom's strong commitment to humanitarian action, which is rooted in the humanitarian vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. This vision is operationalized through three inseparable pillars: active solidarity as a core value, shared responsibility as an operational principle, and strict adherence to international humanitarian law as a fundamental obligation. Hilale articulated these principles during a panel discussion on "Multilateral Humanitarian Action and the Challenges of Peace and Sustainable Development."

He reiterated that the protection of civilians, critical infrastructure, and essential services is a fundamental duty that all parties involved in conflicts must respect. Furthermore, Hilale pointed out that Morocco is one of the most consistent and significant contributors to UN peacekeeping operations. Over the decades, thousands of Moroccan blue helmets have served under the UN flag in various crisis zones around the world, demonstrating Morocco's unwavering commitment to responding to major natural and humanitarian disasters.
