Morocco Enhances its MICE Appeal in India
The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) recently concluded a strategic three-city roadshow across India, showcasing Morocco's burgeoning potential as a premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). With the backdrop of a remarkable 31% increase in Indian tourist arrivals in 2025, coupled with a staggering 224% growth since 2019, the roadshow was held in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru on March 23, 24, and 25, 2026, respectively. This initiative successfully gathered over 80 travel trade professionals alongside key Moroccan stakeholders, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral tourism ties.
Morocco's presentation highlighted its modern convention facilities, luxurious hospitality options, and world-class infrastructure, particularly in major cities like Marrakech, Casablanca, and Rabat. The country boasts an impressive inventory of 300,000 hotel beds and high-capacity venues, such as the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech and the 30,000-pax Espace Bab Jdid, establishing it as an ideal location for international events. Notably, the wedding segment is also gaining momentum, with 2026 set to be a pivotal year as Indian weddings transition into elaborate multi-day celebrations that often involve exclusive takeovers of palaces and resorts.
Strategic Focus on Growth and Partnerships
In a statement regarding this initiative, Jamal Kilito, MNTO's Country Manager for India, emphasized the evolving nature of the Indian market as one of high intent and value for Morocco. "Our strategy is not merely about creating awareness; we are committed to conversion, fostering deeper partnerships, and cultivating long-term preferences," he stated. The MNTO is witnessing a robust momentum in MICE, luxury travel, and destination weddings, bolstered by increasing media visibility and strategic collaborations. With substantial investments being made to enhance infrastructure in preparation for significant events like AFCON 2025 and the FIFA World Cup 2030, Morocco is positioning itself as a prime destination for international conferences, incentive programs, and large-scale celebrations.
In 2025, Morocco welcomed 53,697 Indian travelers, a 31% increase from the previous year. With plans to attract approximately 70,000 visitors in 2026, the MNTO is focusing on specialized MICE promotions and expanding luxury partnerships as key drivers for achieving this ambitious target. By merging world-class infrastructure with culturally rich, experience-driven travel, Morocco is set to emerge as the preferred choice for Indian planners seeking unique corporate, incentive, and celebratory experiences.
