Morocco's National Football Team Secures $19 Million from FIFA
In an impressive display of skill and determination, Morocco's national football team has clinched a substantial financial reward amounting to $19 million from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). This reward comes as a result of their outstanding performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating the Canadian team with a resounding score of three goals to none in a knockout match. This financial incentive is part of the tiered prize system established by FIFA for teams that reach the quarter-finals of the tournament, with teams finishing between fifth and eighth place set to receive this generous payout.
Should the Moroccan team continue its remarkable journey in the tournament, there is potential for their earnings to increase significantly. They are scheduled to face the French national team in the quarter-finals on Thursday, and a victory in this match would guarantee them at least $27 million for reaching the semi-finals. Furthermore, the financial rewards escalate, with third-place teams earning $29 million and the runners-up receiving $33 million, while the ultimate World Cup champion stands to gain a whopping $50 million.
In addition to the performance-based rewards, FIFA has allocated $1.5 million to each participating team in the finals to cover preparation costs, which is separate from the performance-related bonuses. Notably, FIFA had also granted each football federation with a qualified national team $10.5 million in advance, demonstrating their commitment to supporting teams at the World Cup. It is worth mentioning that in the previous tournament held in Qatar in 2022, the Moroccan team was rewarded with $25 million for achieving fourth place.
