Morocco's Strategic Initiative to Enhance Its Industrial AI Ecosystem with JAZARI Institute

Morocco's Vision for Artificial Intelligence by 2030

Morocco is actively working to harness artificial intelligence (AI) as a means to bolster its economic growth and generate thousands of skilled job opportunities by the year 2030. Within this ambitious framework, the industrial sector emerges as a primary focus for the application of AI technologies. On March 10, 2026, in the city of Fès, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in conjunction with the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reforms and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, signed a pivotal agreement with several academic institutions to establish the JAZARI Industry X.0 Institute. This new entity aims to facilitate the integration of AI and digital technologies into the Moroccan industrial landscape, aligning with the nation's broader objectives to enhance applied research and expedite the transformation of its productive fabric.

Collaboration and Innovation at the Heart of JAZARI Institute

The collaboration involves key academic partners such as the Euromed University of Fès, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Moulay Ismaïl University, and Al Akhawayn University. The JAZARI Institute is envisioned as a hub for research and innovation, focusing on Industry 4.0 technologies, which encompass the Internet of Things (IoT), advanced robotics, and industrial data analytics. The central aim is to bridge the gap between scientific research and the tangible needs of businesses in Morocco. Authorities believe that the institute will play a crucial role in transforming academic outputs into practical technological solutions. Research efforts will focus on enhancing productivity, predictive maintenance, improving production process quality, and developing applications in sectors such as smart agriculture and healthcare. Furthermore, the initiative is set to foster the creation of tech startups and cultivate specialized skills in industrial data management and cybersecurity.

This project is part of a larger initiative to structure a national ecosystem centered around artificial intelligence. Recently, Moroccan authorities launched a network of institutes named "Jazari," dedicated to establishing centers of excellence across various regions of the country, aimed at promoting innovation and the industrialization of digital technologies. This strategic direction aligns with the ambitions outlined in the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy, which positions AI at the core of economic modernization efforts. The country aims to generate 100 billion dirhams (approximately $11 billion) in GDP through the structured deployment of AI. According to official projections, this strategic approach could lead to the creation of 50,000 jobs and the training of 200,000 specialized graduates, thereby enhancing the technological and industrial competitiveness of the kingdom.
