Morocco's Pioneering Security Initiative
The Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, Mohammed Ben Ali Koman, emphasized on Sunday during the 7th edition of the Open Days for the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in Rabat that Morocco's innovative initiative serves as a 'source of inspiration' and sets a benchmark for developing a contemporary vision of security operations. Koman articulated that this forward-thinking approach is evident through the enhancement of human rights, the upliftment of living standards for citizens, and the implementation of community policing strategies, which are crucial for fostering trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the public.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude towards King Mohammed VI, Koman acknowledged the monarch's unwavering dedication to just causes across the Arab world and his relentless efforts toward bolstering international peace and security. The Arab official highlighted the King’s steadfast support for collaborative Arab security initiatives and the importance of the Arab Interior Ministers Council in this framework.
Commitment to Tradition and Modernity
Koman noted significant advancements such as the inauguration of the Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane and the new DGSN headquarters in Rabat. These institutions not only reflect authentic Moroccan architectural styles but also incorporate cutting-edge scientific innovations, symbolizing Morocco's commitment to balance tradition with modernity and technological advancement. He remarked on the progress made by the DGSN in creating a secure environment conducive to human and economic development. Since the last assembly, the Moroccan police have achieved numerous milestones, garnering respect and recognition both regionally and internationally, which has helped build trust with their global counterparts.
The ongoing DGSN Open Days, which will run until May 22, underscore the Directorate's unwavering commitment to evolving and enhancing its services and operational effectiveness. This year’s events also celebrate the 70th anniversary of the National Police, marking a significant institutional legacy while reaffirming a contemporary, citizen-centric approach to security.
Founded on May 16, 1956, shortly after Morocco gained independence, the DGSN has become a cornerstone of the nation’s security framework. It is tasked with maintaining public order, safeguarding citizens and their properties, and ensuring national stability. The organization has adeptly adapted to the changing landscape of security challenges through digital transformation and increased public engagement. Previous editions of the Open Days have been hosted in cities such as Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, Fez, Agadir, and El Jadida, establishing a vital annual event that allows citizens to engage directly with police personnel and gain insights into the operations of National Security services.
