Authorities in Phuket are issuing a critical warning to motorcyclists to exercise extreme caution on wet roads after a Moroccan tourist lost control of his motorcycle early yesterday morning, resulting in a collision with an electric taxi in the bustling area of Patong. The incident occurred around 5:49 AM on Soi Nanai 8, where the rider, identified as 24-year-old Chait Mohammed, suffered facial injuries but fortunately remained conscious throughout the ordeal.

The crash, captured by the taxi’s dashcam, has since gained significant attention on social media, particularly after being shared on the popular Facebook page ‘Phuket Mai Khoei Lap,’ which translates to ‘Phuket Never Sleeps.’ The footage illustrates the motorcycle navigating the slick, rain-soaked road before abruptly losing traction, causing the rider to skid directly into the path of the approaching taxi driven by 26-year-old Phattharaphon Sornphan. Despite Phattharaphon’s efforts to slow down, he was unable to stop in time, leading to the unfortunate collision.

As the motorcycle continued its uncontrollable slide, it ultimately crashed into a nearby power pole, highlighting the dangers posed by wet surfaces. Rescue teams from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation swiftly arrived at the scene, administering first aid to both Chait and Phattharaphon before transporting them to Patong Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Although the impact was relatively minor, the taxi driver reported experiencing abdominal tightness and a minor abrasion on his leg as a result of the accident.
