National Police Take Action Against Repeat Offender

In a decisive move, the National Police have apprehended a man in Marratxí, who has a staggering record of 40 previous arrests and nine judicial convictions. This individual is accused of serious crimes, including attempted homicide, violent robbery, bodily harm, and offenses against road safety. Following his most recent apprehension, the authorities have initiated his deportation back to Morocco.

Reportedly, this man was the leader of a highly active organized crime group and was classified as dangerous. He employed numerous tactics to evade capture, including a previous extradition from Belgium to face charges in Spain for attempted homicide. A police statement highlighted his history of "dangerous" escapes from police checkpoints using high-end vehicles, which he often rented. His reckless actions not only jeopardized the lives of law enforcement officers but also posed significant risks to the general public.

Operation and Arrest Details

The investigation was led by the Foreign Operations Group of the National Police, aimed at locating and detaining him for his expulsion from the Schengen Area, as well as dismantling his criminal organization. Last Monday afternoon, police located him in Marratxí alongside another member of his criminal group, who was acting as a driver despite also lacking a valid driving license. This accomplice was arrested and charged with a traffic safety offense.

Upon identifying their rental vehicle, police established surveillance to ensure the safety of the surrounding area. They observed the suspect approaching the vehicle with his accomplice and, at the precise moment he attempted to enter, they executed the arrest to prevent any further escape attempts and protect pedestrians and motorists alike.

Given the imminent threat posed by the suspect, a fortified security detail was arranged for his transfer to Madrid and subsequently to Morocco. This operation involved coordination between the Foreign Group from the Manacor Police Station, the Prevention and Reaction Unit from the Balearic Police Headquarters, and the UCER from the General Commissariat of Foreigners and Borders. By Thursday morning, the administrative expulsion mandate was successfully executed, and he was prohibited from re-entering the Schengen Zone.
