Morocco Secures Advanced Maritime Drone Technology
The Dutch government has approved an export license valued at €13 million for military equipment intended for Morocco. This approval encompasses the sale of two unmanned autonomous vessels, commonly referred to as maritime drones, alongside essential components such as sensors, control systems, spare parts, training, and technical support for the Royal Moroccan Navy.
In a letter dated July 13 to the Dutch House of Representatives, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade clarified that these vessels are designated for anti-submarine warfare and mine clearance operations. They have been assessed in accordance with the eight common criteria established by the European Union for arms exports.
Recognizing Morocco as a "stable and strategic security partner," the Dutch government underlined the nation’s pivotal role in managing irregular migration toward the Canary Islands. This partnership showcases the mutual interests of both countries, particularly in the realms of security and maritime safety.
