On Monday, August 17, 2026, the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, who also serves as the Governor of Marrakech, presided over a ceremony to officially appoint new local authority officials at the regional headquarters. This event was part of a broader administrative reshuffle initiated by the Ministry of Interior on August 12, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the local governance structure.

The recent appointments included six new officials, among whom Sofiane Senini was designated as the leader of the administrative annex of Atlas in the urban area of Tamesloht, while Yousra Chouali, a graduate of the 61st cohort from the Royal Institute of Territorial Administration, was appointed as the leader of the administrative annex of Kasbah in the municipality of Al-Machour Kasbah. Elias Bouhssous, a fellow graduate of the same cohort, was assigned to the administrative annex of Hay Hassani in the urban area of Hay Hassani.

Additionally, Ahmed Atif, another graduate from the 61st cohort of the Royal Institute, was appointed as the leader of the administrative annex of Ma'ta Allah in the urban area of Menara, while Walid Idrissi, also from the same graduating class, took on the role of leader at the administrative annex of Atlas in the municipality of Tamesloht. Lastly, Zakaria Othmani was appointed to the general secretariat of the Marrakech province.

During his speech at the ceremony, the Wali emphasized the pivotal role that local authority officials play within the territorial administration framework. He urged the newly appointed officials to embody responsibility, discipline, vigilance, and impartiality, and to practice a policy of proximity and direct communication with citizens.
