New Infrastructure Set to Improve Traffic Flow
In response to the increasing pressure on the road network connecting Harhoura and Témara, a new highway exit ramp is currently under construction between Témara and Aïn Atiq. This initiative, spearheaded by Autoroutes du Maroc, aims to enhance traffic fluidity towards coastal areas, particularly during peak seasons when visitor numbers surge.
Residents of Harhoura can soon expect a significant reduction in road congestion. The new exit ramp, named "Le Rivage," is being developed between the Témara and Aïn Atiq interchanges. Observations on-site indicate that construction is progressing steadily, with the primary goal of alleviating the burden on the sole access point linking the highway to the urbanized areas of Témara Beach, Harhoura, the Témara municipality, Sables d’Or, and the Rivage sector. This infrastructural enhancement is particularly crucial during the summer months when traffic density escalates.
Community Response and Future Prospects
The forthcoming infrastructure will originate at the Fellah road, providing a direct route to the Rivage area, thereby offering an alternative exit for users. Designed as a bypass, it is expected to relieve the pressure on the existing road network, though it currently does not include an access ramp to rejoin the highway towards Casablanca.
This project is part of Autoroutes du Maroc's broader efforts to adapt the road network to urbanization dynamics and the rising traffic demands. Local inhabitants have expressed their approval and anticipation regarding this long-awaited development. Ahmed, a resident of the Le Rivage neighborhood, remarked, "With urban expansion and the tourist appeal of the area, especially in summer, this construction comes at a much-needed time to ease a traffic flow that has become particularly dense."
