New Moroccan-Spanish Agreement to Support Enterprises and Expand Trade Cooperation
A new economic partnership has been established between Almería and the Fes-Meknes region of Morocco, aimed at bolstering support for businesses while expanding investment and trade opportunities between the two regions. As reported by the Spanish newspaper “Ideal,” this strategic agreement was signed on Monday to enhance economic and commercial relations, marking a significant step forward in cooperation between the Mediterranean shores.
The partnership involves an institutional collaboration between the Almería Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Fes-Meknes region. According to the report, this agreement is not solely focused on institutional aspects; it seeks to create new business opportunities, encourage productive investment, and facilitate the exchange of expertise in an increasingly interconnected global economic environment.
The signing of the agreement was officiated by the presidents of both institutions: Jeronimo Para representing the Spanish side, and Hamza Benabdallah representing Morocco. The new framework is based on principles of reciprocity, mutual benefit, and economic collaboration, which will facilitate the entry of Spanish companies into the Moroccan market while providing Fes-Meknes companies with access to Spanish and European markets.
Moreover, the agreement aims to provide institutional support for the international expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The areas of cooperation include joint promotion, the exchange of economic information, the organization of regular business meetings, as well as the dispatch of trade delegations and training and consultancy programs in sectors such as trade, industry, services, tourism, and culture.
While the agreement does not entail direct financial commitments, it paves the way for signing specific agreements related to defined projects. It also establishes a joint committee to monitor implementation, assess outcomes, and propose new initiatives. The initial duration of the agreement is one year, with the possibility of extension up to four years.
