Political Realignments in Taounate

In a significant political development, two members of parliament from the National Rally of Independents (RNI) representing the Taounate region have officially joined the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM). This transition was marked by their attendance at a communication meeting organized in the Al-Ghawazi area of Ba Mohamed village, which was attended by key figures such as Fatima Zahra Mansouri, the collective leadership coordinator, and Fawzi Lekjaa, a member of the political bureau, alongside other officials.

Among those present was Bouchtai Bouassouf, the RNI parliamentarian for the Tissa-Taounate district, who was seen sitting next to the regional secretary of PAM. His rejoining PAM comes after a previous stint with the RNI, during which he served as the president of the Agricultural Chamber in Casablanca from 2009 to 2015 under the PAM banner.

Notably, Bouassouf was not the only former RNI member making this political shift; his colleague, Nour Eddine Qashibil, a former parliamentarian and head of the Moulay Abd al-Karim municipality in Ba Mohamed, also transitioned to PAM. Qashibil previously had affiliations with the Justice and Development Party (PJD) and led a group of municipalities under its name in a previous term.

The PAM party's strategy to attract political leaders from other parties is not limited to Taounate. The party has reportedly welcomed four municipal heads and several elected officials from various municipalities, though these additions have not been publicly announced, unlike the presence of the parliamentarians at the recent party meeting in Al-Ghawazi.

Additionally, the party has seen other notable entries, including Anas Al-Ansari, who was the head of the PAM list in the Meknes constituency and comes from a well-known family of the Istiqlal party. Another significant addition is Mohamed Azmi, who previously represented the Democratic Social Movement party in the northern Fes district.
